Amazon Mechanical Turk (MTurk) is a crowdsourcing marketplace owned and operated by Amazon Web Services (AWS). The platform connects businesses and researchers (requesters) with remote workers (Turkers) who complete small online tasks called HITs (Human Intelligence Tasks). MTurk is a platform publicly launched in the United States on November 2, 2005, and is operated by Amazon - an American multinational company. Users should not be confused about this platform as it is a scam platform. This website is backed by Amazon, a trusted global company. MTurk is legitimate and useful for side income.
How to work on MTurk
After users log in to MTurk, they see a list of HITS posted by companies, researchers, and universities that are requesting them.
Some common HITS include:
- Answering surveys
- Image labelling
- Data validation
- Audio transcription
- Content moderation
- Sentiment analysis
- Categorizing products or text
- AI training tasks
After completing these tasks, the requester approves the completed work, which after approval, the worker is given an agreed reward, which is usually a small cent per task. Every time the workers complete their work, their earnings continue to accumulate. If they want to withdraw their earnings, it depends on the bank card or Amazon gift card.
